Obsession of the Week

I have not taken off my black suede Minnetonka moccasin boots! I am so in love! They are comfy and stylish and I have worn them everyday to work in BP at Nordstrom. I suggest everyone picking up a pair! They look great with shorts, tights, leggings, destroyed skinnies. I am loving them!

Loving this comfy look :) Obsessed with my Minnetonkas.

Closet & Styling Basics

A lot of people that I help put their clothes together or shop for I have noticed feel like they need a lot of pieces to have a fantastically stylish wardrobe that works. On the contrary, if you have a few neutral key pieces you can work these pieces in numerous ways to convey the image that you do have tons hanging in your closet! So I put together some polyvores to demonstrate that quantity doesn't necessarily mean quality.

So what we have here is:
1. a pair of jeans/jean leggings
2. a basic long tank
3. tights
4. a white v-neck
5. a neutral colored scarf
6. a jersey mini dress
7. a vest
8. a neutral cardigan
9. a pair of trouser style shorts
10. a casual shoe
11. an edgier dressy shoe option
12. a neutral bag that can have a removable strap

Starting with the dress. When its cold out or you don't want to show your legs wear the tights. Walking a lot? Wear the flat boot. Want to spruce it up? Wear the scarf. Want an edgier look? Throw on a studded vest. Going on a date? Wear the heels with the cardigan. Already 3+ different outfits here.

A white v neck (or a few) is a basic staple that every gal should have. If all else fails you can wear it with leggings, a great necklace, and some boots! Starting with the white v-neck you can wear the scarf with or without the vest or cardy. Or if you're feeling really cool wear the cardy buttoned up over the tee with the vest on top of the cardy. Wear it tucked into denim or shorts. Wear tights with the shorts. Choose a shoe option based on your mood and occasion. 10+ outfits already here!
Swap out your v-neck for a basic long tank. Pair it with the vest plus your two options of bottoms. Throw the scarf on with the vest or just with the tank pair it with your two bottom options. Swap out the vest for the cardy or wear both. Choose your shoe based on your mood and occasion. Wear the shorts with tights to change it up. 8+ outfits here.

We have 20+ outfits here dolls! Don't think that if your wardrobe isn't overflowing that you can't be stylish! Work with what you have! If you start with basics and learn how to mix and match your options, the style opportunities are endless. Once you have some neutral staples in your wardrobe you can then can go out and purchase unique pieces to spice these staples up.

Happy dressing! XO

Yumminess to look forward to

Sweet. Edgy. Vintage like. Perfect.

Lets talk Worth...

We have heard of the fashion meccas such as Madison Avenue in NYC and Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles. Worth Avenue is Palm Beach's fashion destination. Imagine enjoying the breeze from the surrounding beaches, and soaking up sun in your maxi dress while shopping the likes of Michael Kors,Lacoste, Neiman's, Saks, and Tory Burch just to name a few! Also there is always fabulous shopping events happening, such as trunk shows and fashion charity events. 150 worth has their own blog about their up and coming happenings you all should check out. I can't think of a better shopping experience as a Palm Beach princess being feet away from the ocean and getting a tan while carrying full shopping bags :) More to come on Worth Avenue!

Obsession of the Week

This week I am loving oversized cardigans. Working at Nordies I had been eyeing some in our department. They just look SO comfy yet edgy. I found one at Forever21 when I was personal shopping for Nikki and fell in love. It is a dark red color, almost crochet like, with pockets and dolman sleeves. I put it on right when I got home. Perfect lounge wear or you can dress it up. Here are two takes on the oversized cardi. Take advantage and snuggle up!

The possibilities and cuteness are endless!

Fashion Challenge

This weekend I personal shopped for and styled my boyfriend's older sister Nikki. She just got a new job and it is important that she dress to impress, especially since she is a female on a pretty male dominant office/team. Nikki's style/look had different angles as she loves classic with an edge and is a bit of a hipster. We were on a budget so I hit up Zara where a major work wear sale was going on, Express, and Forever 21 for quick basics. I wanted to get her some classic and stand out pieces she could build onto later. Here is what I found for her.
I loved all the tops we found for her. She loves classic button downs. This pinstripe button down in a classic blue stripe was perfect for her and would go with pretty much anything! I also picked out some sheer/flowy button down shirts in a blush and light gray that look great with her coloring and are neutrals that can go with numerous pieces.
She also wanted some great vests-the black classic one was such great piece! It was very flattering and can go with anything! She wanted a fur vest but a light version for Palm Beach. Also she loves leather, so this beige leather vest was a must-I thought it was beautiful with the blush color. The oversized dark red knit cardy is so comfy! I got one for myself as well!
To go with the tops she needed a few jackets. She needed a new black blazer that wasn't super fitted and that would be timeless. Zara is the perfect place for such a piece, paying a decent price for quality. I found this AMAZING jacket, its tweed with bits of leather at the top--very Nikki-on sale for 60 bucks! Everyone in the store was so upset we got the last one! It looks amazing on. Lastly she loved this leopard vintage like jacket. She is going to Italy on a trip for her new job and will look cozy chic in leopard (it was on sale too-60 bucks!)
Lastly bottoms-she wanted to start out with at least two pair of black pants because she had none! We got a peg leg pair from Zara that looked super chic with pumps. We also got this paper bag waist/harem like pair at Forever. Made her waist look teeeeeeeny! She wanted some work appropriate shorts-we picked out a longer length black (the same ones I have one sale 19 bucks!) and gray. She loved these grandpa herringbone pants from Forever, and again they made her waist look great. (The body form would not do the pants just right, so I apologize for the pictures on the bed-I promise the bottoms are cute!)

I didn't get a chance to snap a pic of the three pairs of shoes I picked out for her. She needed a gray ankle boot to switch into when her heels are killing her. A bone colored leather pair of pumps, and an AMAZING pair of black leather boots on sale from 200 to 80! I want to go back and get them for myself.

So far mission accomplished!I hope Nikki enjoys her work wear and feels like she can showcase her personality while still being all about business!

Steal My Style

Loving V-Hud in comfy florals.

Polo Fashion Showcase: Luca Luca

This Sunday at the International Polo Club's Sunday match, designer Luca Luca is being showcased. Luca Luca started in 1991 with Luca Orlandi as creative director and now the current lead is Raul Melgoza. Luca Luca has a sophisticated aesthetic and is known for being feminine and a go to line for the Red carpet. Shoes and handbags are also on the list of the label's designs. The line's light color palette and beautiful silhouettes are fitting for looking gorgeous while taking in a polo match.

Outfit Breakdown: Mens wear inspired

I know it has been so long since I've done an outfit break down! I keep forgetting to snap pics before I get into my sweats after work/interning. I put a huge post it on my mirror to remind me to snap pics of blog worthy outfits:) Wore this little number out shopping, channeling mens wear. Love wide leg trousers, always making us shorties seem taller.

Trend Watch

As people are taking note of the upcoming Spring trends we can expect to be blossoming soon-I've been seeing abstract print dresses all over the place lately. I think they are a great transition trend from Winter to Spring, change out your tights when it gets warmer. Pumps, ankle booties, or sandals will look great paired with this little number. Jason Wu and Thakoon are designers sure to have this on their list of Spring designs.

This is how I feel today...

Still frozen in Palm Beach.

Polo Style

So every week I am going to try and do a post about the fashion and style at the Sunday polo matches. This week it was a little off as it was about 40 degrees---freezing for Palm Beachers! Yet the style was still out in full force. Almost everyone had on some sort of boot whether it be a riding inspired boot, western boot, or just a tall boot with a heel. A lot of ladies had on black leggings, dark denim, or riding inspired pant with long sweaters. The winter accessories were sprinkled everywhere plenty of scarves, ear muffs, and hats. I spotted a lot of layering for anyone getting warm enough to shed their jacket. Here is a polyvore inspired from this last week's match.

Style Goddess

So I was perusing my list of blogs to read the other day and DulceCandy87 did a post on Russian It-Girl Marislova Duma. How did I not come across this style goddess before? She is this month's inspiration board and pretty much my new style icon. She has the style aesthetic that I love classic and edgy. One day she is a preppy princess the next she's a hipster. Not only is her clothing and style amazing-the girl is beautiful! There isn't a lot of accurate information on her or what she does but I did find out that she is a writer for Russian Harper's Bazaar. Wow can her life get any better? This is who I am looking to for my outfit inspiration. Enjoy!

My new Big Girl adventure

This week has been a whirlwind as I made my mini move down to Palm Beach to start my new adventure. I am going to be interning for Shamin Abas Public Relations. I am working on the International Polo Club account.
No dolls, I'm not talking to classic Ralph Lauren collection, I am talking about REAL polo. Polo is huge in Palm Beach and is one of the "must attend" events of the social season. Each Sunday one of the shops of Palm Beach's Worth Avenue (think Rodeo Dr in LA) is showcased during the match.
I started on Thursday and am still getting the hang of things. This Sunday is my first match. I will let you all know how it goes!

Obsession of the Week

I believe that to have style one should constantly be evolving and not just fit into one style niche. Fashion right now is such a huge industry with so many different talents and aesthetics which we should all take advantage of and dig our hands into all of it. One should have multiple different muses where they get their inspiration from. This leads me to my obsession of the week:
Kat Von D is the leading lady of her own tattoo shop LA Ink which also happens to be a TLC show that I have taken advantage over the break to become obsessed with. Although Kat's style is unconventional-I love it! She is true to who she is and dresses how she feels and I admire that.
Some of her favorite pieces to sport are leggings, destroyed flares, boots, long tee shirt dresses, sky high wedges, bikini tops, destroyed vintage tees. She always has a lightening bolt accessory and huge rocker shades on.

Kat's look is unconventional but I think she is an unconventional beauty. Get your Kat on with this ripped tee shirt dress decorated with a skeleton, some wooden wedges, a black Octopus cocktail ring, and a sunflower clip in your hair. Or some ripped dirty denim flares, a black skull bathing suit top, and a leather sparkly vest. Either way, Kat is someone we can all take a little piece of her style to really edge up and personalize our look.
Rock on!

Wardrobe Staple

A wardrobe should start with key simple and timeless pieces and build from there. These are items of clothing that you will always have, that will work with numerous other pieces in your closet, and are appropriate for a variety of events. One of these pieces is the black pant. The black pant is perfect for work, dinner, and going out. There is a variety of styles for the black pant: the skinny, wide leg, and cropped. Personally I like having all three available to me suiting my mood. However, just having one is great!

Someone who works all three styles is one of my favorites...
As you can see all three styles can be worn with pumps, flats, or boots. Any top from dressy to a tee. Again, as you can see black suits any occasion.

I just added a cropped pair of black pants to my wardrobe. (I got them on MAJOR sale at Express-after this post head there asap!) I am really excited about wearing them to work channeling a look similar to below:
So take note and add this staple to your wardrobe. Then the fun part begins pairing it with all the other amazing pieces in your closet!
