Blouse Me

The blouse is having a major moment. I prefer this silhouette and have multiple blouses in my closet. Now you don't have to go boring and matronly with these little numbers. Polka dots, stripes, funky patterns it is free range. You can wear the blouse multiple ways. Try it with a pencil skirt or peg leg trousers for work or a meeting. Throw on a tight pair of denim skinnies or leather shorts for casual Friday, a date, or happy hour.

Project Runway Three's a Crowd

Congrats to Project Runway 7 Winner Seth Aaron Henderson! While I was unsure of the final three chosen to go, once I saw the final runway show-I was just as pleasantly surprised as the judges. The three finalists Seth, Emilio Sosa, and Mila Hermanovski pulled out all the stops on the runway. I enjoyed all of their collections.

I would wear all of them--but I loved Mila's styling and comfy knits and rocker chic the most! Those leggings were awesome!
Emilio's feminine pieces were amazing but his ego and eye rolling during judging made me dislike him so much I don't care what he put down the runway I didn't want him winning. Get over yourself and your ESOSA brand. Humble yourself please--no one knew who you were before this show remember that!
Seth Aaron I have always admired through out the competition and while his stuff is a different aesthetic than what I would wear it was perfect for editorial, ahead of the curve, and the majority of it was wearable.
What did you guys think of this season? Who was your favorite? I can't wait for the next season!

Tackle The Trend

It isn't a full day at work if I don't get asked: How do I wear this? I get asked the most about trapeze tanks or tanks with a longer length and wide arm cutouts usually out of a soft material. Obviously if you wear a bra you can see it. If you wear a tee shirt-it defeats the purpose of being cool and comfortable. My answer: bandeau tops. Yes those tops your mother used to wear back in the day or like the bathing suit style top. It is a little more comfortable and stylish than wearing a bra.

There is a wide variety available. Free People offers a lacy style in a wide variety of colors for $28 bucks. You can pick up cotton ones anywhere from Forever21 to Zara usually in packs of 3 or 4. Again use your imagination and dress up the tanks with your bandeau such as a sparkly style to wear on a night out. You don't have to stick to neutral black, nude, and white. Don't be afraid to mix colors either.

If you feel like you won't get enough support from a bandeau au contraire my ladies-your lingerie department in any department store offers bandeaus with support so you feel covered all the time.

Feel like that wont give you enough? Pairing these tanks with a colored cami is just as stylish!

Finish this look off pairing it with a pair of shorts, (make sure the tank doesn't cover them--that's not a look you want) ripped denim, or leggings. Hope this helps you tackle the trend.

Tackle The Trend

I'm always hearing at work or with my friends that they love a certain trend but "just can't pull it off". I disagree, but I can understand that maybe they're just afraid of the trend or don't know how to wear it. Fashion isn't supposed to be scary or intimidating!

I am here to help you "tackle the trend" starting with the boyfriend jean.

I think anyone can wear this trend: jeans are jeans! Anyone can wear jeans. Boyfriend jeans are an effortlessly chic look. You don't want to look like you tried too hard. These jeans can be girly, edgy, preppy whatever your heart desires! Start with the jeans and build from there. Wedges, ballet flats, gladiators, pumps anything goes for the bottom. Pay attention to your height and shape while balancing with the look you are going for.

Also, don't feel like you have to break your bank for these. I am weary of spending a lot of money on anything that is popular to wear at the moment. You should always save your money for something you are crazy about or a timeless piece that will remain in style forever like a trench coat or classic black pump. I found the perfect pair of boyfriend jeans for 17.99 at Old Navy. Here are some options in different price ranges:
Hope this helps you tackle the trend!

Is White the New Black?

The go-to Style site, Refinery29.com did a post a while back on white being the new neutral. I have always loved white, and hated feeling restricted to only summer time and after labor day. I think white more than ever is always appropriate (unless we’re discussing anything white and linen…not ok to wear say in your Christmas photo) Do you all agree? Here are some of the way Refinery29 broke down how to incorporate white into your wardrobe to remain on trend and timeless this Spring:

Skirts/Jackets
Trench Coat
Lace

Throwing my “two cents” in, I also think that one should also pick up some white denim. Make sure they’re not too tight nothing white should be too tight. Also to keep your white crisp and clean--dry clean only dolls.

Oscar Ensemble Break Down

So the Oscar red carpet last night was filled with ups and downs. I have to admit I was expecting to be blown away but my best dressed list was pretty easy.

Hands down I thought Zoe Saldana was best dressed in Givenchy. From the minute I saw her get out of her limo I couldn't take my eyes off the dress. I know a lot of people didn't understand her dress but THIS is how you dress for the Oscars. Her movie was nominated, she's young this is how you're supposed to dress. Her outfit pushed the limit but not to far and it the colors looked amazing on her.

Coming a close second to Zoe I thought Meryl Streep was breath taking. She was dressed age appropriate and looked like a Hollywood goddess in Chris March (Project Runway Alum!). Also loving Carey Mulligan. It is not easy to pull off pleats and jewels, created a nice silhouette for her. Rachel McAdams' dress is absolutely beautiful and not too over the top. Penelope is always a gem in my eyes, her earrings gave this outfit the little touch of glam it needed.

Now for my least favorites.
Ok honestly, I have a bone to pick with Jennifer Lopez aka J.Lo aka Jenny from the Block whatever it is she is calling herself these days. I am so sick of her face popping up everywhere like a desperate Debbie at all media events. Honey face it you're done. This dress while hitting the voluminous trend looks like it is made out of bubble wrap and looks like a Barbie tent.
I am upset with these ladies who aren't NOMINATED wearing these over the top dresses...(ahem Miley Cyrus). Even if you're presenting I don't think its appropriate to be over the top. If you're not nominated or your movie isn't then you don't get the option of wearing an "extravagant look at me" dress.
As for SJP loving the hair not loving the Chanel and same goes for Diane Kruger. Sorry Karl.

My favorite look of the night was Nicole Richie. I am loving the hair, the make up, the dress, the back. If I was going to the Oscars this is what I would wear. Loving it!

What were your Oscar hits and misses?

Editorial Bliss

I love Marisa Miller's spread in this up coming issue of Vegas magazine. Her bleached out wig gives her an edgier look and I love how the editorial was styled. Socks with peep toe heels (knew that trend wasn't going anywhere). They played with Spring trends here with the lingerie, shorts, and Army inspired top, and boleros. I love every look so much she is background status for my phone and twitter.

Steal My Style: Request

My lovely co-worker Danika requested this look out of Elle magazine for a Steal My Style. She wanted the look but not at the designer price.

I found this gold v-neck dress for $160 by Paul and Joe. The most expensive item yet she can wear this numerous ways with tights, over the knee boots, pumps in the summer time to dinner. I found similar chain linked bracelets she can buy two and get a similar stacked look to the magazine. The jersey boyfriend blazer is a complete steal and she would wear it ALL the time. I threw in the cream ankle boots on sale at Aldo for a bit of an edge and again they are an item she can wear year around all the time. She can score this look for a total of $283. Beats any designer price.
