go buy now or regret it.

We all know that I am a fan of any 60's/70's inspired fashion. I've always been down with a wide leg jean because they make me look taller. But apparently EVERYONE needs to snatch up a pair for this Spring. Think Dazed and Confused, Cher, and Charlie's Angels. Perfect with a platform or sandals. Unless you see yourself wearing them for multiple seasons as I always suggest do not invest a ton of money in something on trend. Here are a few options for any budget.

London Trend Take Home Bag

I have been dying to tell you guys about the AH-MAZING fashion I saw in London. When I'm there I just want to take pictures of the girls (and guys) on the street-they really have their street fashion DOWN. People there are so free with the way they dress, sticking to their own unique style despite trends which I think is what makes it that "cool" the city is known for. Here are some of the trends I took home with me.

1. "the boyfriend boot"-I don't know what it is about this boot but EVERY girl had them on. They seem so masculine so you have to find the one that suits you ( I have a tiny foot so I wasn't trying to over power it with crazy buckles and studs). These were paired with leggings, tights, knee highs, over-the-knees, skinny jeans, shorts with such ease and confidence. Some girls even wear them unzipped to up the "I don't care" factor.

2. Navajo Cape/Sweater/Anything-We all know I'm already a sucker for Indian Princess themed fashion-this print was everywhere on anything.

3. The Stevie Knicks Hat-London is going through a Stevie Knicks phase, well I think most of fashion is but America hasn't fully embraced it. Dying for one of these--again my "small-ness" has me still looking for the perfect one that doesn't hide my face and in black.

4. Bags with any buckle-Since the Mulberry "Alexa" bags with buckles have become a staple.

5. Over-the-Knee socks-We all know how I felt about these before London now I'm even more CRAZY about them. Such an effortless way to be sexy

6. Cardigan- These updated version of the cardigan is a mix with a blazer. They had them in all prints, beads, embroidery. I see them coming over here in full force in the Spring.

7. Cozy Marbled Shirt-I found these in Topshop they were very T by Alexander Wang-ish so comfy and soft I bought them in 6 different colors and have been living in them.

8. Hats-Hats were huge since its FREEZING, hats with fur and little ears were a favorite.

9. "Snoods" aka Eternity Scarves-These were everywhere in every fabric. My sis's favorite-I got one in pink knit.

10. Capes-Capes were a great alternative and more flattering silhouette when it comes to outerwear. Wish I would have picked one up instead of being so focused on a fur jacket (which by the way I didn't even find THE ONE)

Love love London for the fashion, and appreciation of one's own unique style. America needs to adapt that as well as all of these trends ASAP.

On My Radar

You know how you mentally make lists in your head? Things you need at the grocery, a to-do list, songs to download, ect? Well I make a list for pieces I would love to add in my closet...I'm sure none of you are surprised.

I am the type of shopper who can't just buy impulsively (I know it is a very good thing) but it makes shopping hard for me sometimes. I am always on a mission for a very specific thing and if I find something similar but doesn't suit my need entirely I won't get it no matter how much of a bargain (and sometimes you just want to buy something!). So I have my mental lists to check off. These are the wardrobe pieces currently on my radar...
1. Cargos: I am loving the utility movement. I like that they are marking cargos that flatter a woman's body and create a flattering silhouette and not look like a construction worker. These can go day to night.

2. Jumpsuits: Throwback to the 70's. Not everyone can pull this look off but with the right sandals or wedges and accessories this could be a gem in your summertime wardrobe.

3. Ikat: I think I will be obsessed with ikat print until the end of time. Enough said.

4. Maxis: They make me look inches taller. Love the ease and instant bohemian chic look.

5. Denim vests: I am on the hunt for the perfect light denim vest to throw over florals and girlie silhouettes.

6. Black wedge: I need a black wedge for the warm months that can stay around for tights in the fall.

What are trends or pieces are on your radar at the moment?

Tackle The Trend

I'm always hearing at work or with my friends that they love a certain trend but "just can't pull it off". I disagree, but I can understand that maybe they're just afraid of the trend or don't know how to wear it. Fashion isn't supposed to be scary or intimidating!

I am here to help you "tackle the trend" starting with the boyfriend jean.

I think anyone can wear this trend: jeans are jeans! Anyone can wear jeans. Boyfriend jeans are an effortlessly chic look. You don't want to look like you tried too hard. These jeans can be girly, edgy, preppy whatever your heart desires! Start with the jeans and build from there. Wedges, ballet flats, gladiators, pumps anything goes for the bottom. Pay attention to your height and shape while balancing with the look you are going for.

Also, don't feel like you have to break your bank for these. I am weary of spending a lot of money on anything that is popular to wear at the moment. You should always save your money for something you are crazy about or a timeless piece that will remain in style forever like a trench coat or classic black pump. I found the perfect pair of boyfriend jeans for 17.99 at Old Navy. Here are some options in different price ranges:
Hope this helps you tackle the trend!

Fashion Math: Rompers+Blazers

One of my favorite Spring trends that is blooming everywhere is pairing flirty rompers with blazers for a more refined look. This pairing would be great for work (if trendy wear is allowed), lunch/dinner, or a night out on the town. A definite day to night must. Add tights/pumps/flats whatever suits your mood! Check out Kourt and her blazer romper pairing!

Obsession of the Week

This week I am finding myself picking up everything and anything acid wash & lace. Hard and soft. Two totally different materials but I am loving them! Try putting them together for an edgy yet soft look.
Trends are making their way backward to the 80's. This obsession of the week is like a Madonna video circa 1986. Forever21 has an extensive collection of both trends for an affordable price point.

Obsession of the Week

Tuesday: Time for obsession of the week. This week I find myself being drawn to cropped tops. Purchased a vintage inspired one from Forever 21 the other day and have been quite obsessed ever since. Pair them with boyfriend jeans, leggings, denim shorts over tights. Be careful dolls, I am not promoting sporting belly baring midriffs Britney circa 1999--these little numbers should skim right above the top of your pants. Don't like the thought of a little tummy showing? Wear a tight cami underneath. You could even make your own go to a thrift store and bust out some scissors! Topshop has quite the collection. I know more will be appearing in my closet soon enough. So 80's throwback love it!

What Would She Wear...

I made this polyvore for my favorite Kim Kardashian. Today is her man Reggie's big day down in Miami and I know she will support him in style. I picked out some black leather like leggings, a sheer pocket tank, and a gold blazer to match her man in black and gold. Louboutin booties are her signature and a bracelet with fleur-de-lis design. She's a fan of Alexander Wang so the coco duffel was a must. GO SAINTS!

Cross Walk

Check this off of my Spring must have list. It was love at first sight. This retro inspired Tiffany blue ostrich faux leather cross body bag. Forever21. Yes, you read right, Forever 21: $17.80. My inner circle of fashionistas have already gone and purchased their own. Run-don't walk.

Obsession of the Week

This week I am loving oversized cardigans. Working at Nordies I had been eyeing some in our department. They just look SO comfy yet edgy. I found one at Forever21 when I was personal shopping for Nikki and fell in love. It is a dark red color, almost crochet like, with pockets and dolman sleeves. I put it on right when I got home. Perfect lounge wear or you can dress it up. Here are two takes on the oversized cardi. Take advantage and snuggle up!

The possibilities and cuteness are endless!

Dirty Denim

Seeing this trend pop up everywhere. Thinking about joining the team. A little bit of an 80's edge...can't get enough of the 80's. Im picturing it with a baggy tee and fringe boots?

Men's Oxford Shoe Trend

The menswear inspired oxford flat has been popping up everywhere since the end of this summer and into the fall. I have always thought it was very fashion forward and chic. I find myself picking them up in the store and looking at them, holding them up against myself, and wondering would I wear these? I am more drawn to the neutral colors and slender style.
However browsing Steve Madden's site I found the Tirah and I think this is my answer to this trend. I would say my style is classic chic with a bit of an edge, and this fits me. They are a little more feminine and since I will be spending a good chunk of my time in Palm Beach the next few months for my internship I felt like these would fit in perfectly. What do you all think?
I'm thinking I will definitely have to see these in person before making a final decision. I like the lavender shade best, gray a close second. I think they would be divine with little skirts, floral dresses, black cropped pants, denim shorts and skinnies.

Collecting Trophies...

I am all about pieces that are timeless, chic, and that flatter the body. So seeing these trophy jackets popping up on my favorite fashionistas these days has got my heart fluttering! I can't lie I have sort of started collecting them. I just bought a block tuxedo style one that is cropped with a flower broach and I also purchased this amazing snakeskin sequin print jacket from ASOS.

I love the way they look paired over a tee or tank with wide leg pants or leggings instantly lengthening my short frame! I think that the trophy jackets
add an immediate chicness to any outfit and just look very smart in general. They are popping up in a variety of colors and styles.
I think topshop has the best selection right now I would take any of them! The thing about the trophy jacket is they are slightly shorter and a bit sassier than the blazer.

Shoulders, Ankles, & Boyfriends.

Its been a while since I've posted but now that I am in my fashion education internship with Nordstrom fashion is even
more on the brain. I want to post about some of the trends that have been on my mind lately.
You'd have to be under a rock to not know about the
huge shoulder trend that has suddenly jumped onto the red carpet and at numerous events. Balmain and shoulder pads go hand and hand.  And we're not talking about shoulder pads circa 1980 during your mom's Dynasty days either. The shoulder pad fad from the runway is updated and a little more modern and not so intense.  It is very subtle and a little more angular than your mom's shoulder pads creating a nicer silhouette and one could easily pull this off with a modern blazer.
I am in love with blazers right now and not because I have to dress super professional this summer for my internship. I bought a fabulous one from Zara, and it is tailored for a femnine look leaving the suit style to the men.
Another look I have been wearing and noticing on the street lately is the ankle boot transitioning from the fall and winter months being paired with cute shorts and summer time cocktail dresses. The cowboy ankle bootie is also another option for a more bohemian street look.

Lastly the baggy boyfriend tees and tanks. I am obsessed with these cotton loose fitting v neck tees and tank tops, especially the ones with the small pocket on the side.  These tees can be great over leggings running errands or you can dress them up with a statement necklace for a night out on the town.
All of these trends thrown together is one of my favorite looks right now. Throwing a blazer over the boyfriend tank with a pair of linen shorts and ankle boots with a chunky belt.
